8th-grade Crusaders advance
David Vogel scored 22 points and Brent Bales 12 to help the Norwell 8th-grade boys’ basketball team advance to the second round in the Northeast Hoosier Middle Level Conference tournament.
The Crusaders defeated Woodside 50-39 at Norwell. However, the 7th-grade Crusaders were eliminated by Woodside 36-35.
The 8th-grade Crusaders also got six points each from Cal Clouser and Drew Shively. Jonah Patten and Brett Wilson both added two points.
The 7th-grade Crusaders were led by Brandon Burch with 12. Piercen Harnish added eight, Adam Nahrwold seven, Andrew Oakes six and Reggie Hayes two.

Bluffton MS needs coaches
The Bluffton Athletic Department is seeking candidates and taking applications for middle school track coaching positions. Interested applicants, who are qualified, should contact Steve Thompson, athletic director, at sthompson@bhmsd.k12.us or 824-3724 as soon as possible.

Tri-Star Basketball Contest scheduled
The Bluffton Optimist Club Tri-Star Basketball Contest for all Wells County boys and girls, ages 8-13 (as of March 15), is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6, in the Bluffton City Gym, 128 E. Market St. Registration and warm up begins at 3:30 p.m. and the contest starts at 4 p.m. Sign-up forms will be at the door. First-place finishers advance to regional competition to be announced.
