Bluffton freshmen sink Canterbury
The Bluffton Tigers’ freshman boys’ basketball team defeated Fort Wayne Canterbury 33-30 on Monday night at Fort Wayne.
Jake Garrett led the Tigers with 9 points and Josh Streveler followed with 8. Kaben Kinsey and Austin Brigner each pumped in 6 points. Colton Ames contributed 3 and Malcolm Marshall 1.

Rupright earns state recognition
Norwell junior Jessica Rupright was selected as one of the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/Pacers-Fever Players of the Week for Nov. 22-27.
Rupright just missed a school record when she scored 33 points in the Knights’ 65-55 victory over Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran last week. The 6-2 junior center made 10 of 14 shots and 12 of 16 free throws for the Class 3A No. 1-ranked girls’ team. The Miami of Ohio recruit also had eight rebounds.

Bluffton girls top South Adams
The Bluffton Middle School girls’ basketball teams swept South Adams in two games Monday. The 7th-grade Tigers beat the Starfires 22-7 and the 8th-graders came away with a 21-20 victory.
Whitney Green and Shannon Penrod each had 6 points for the 7th-grade Tigers. Kendall Mechling, Sydney Longenberger, Caitlin Krider and Katie Geimer each had 2 points. Kaytlin Hart and Branda Bywater each had 1.
Erin McKinley netted 7 points to pace the 8th-grade Tigers (5-1, 2-0 Allen County Athletic Conference). Emma Thompson tallied 6 and Janean Steffen 4. Kaitlyn Schriver and Lauren Brinneman each had 2 points.

Bluffton boys run over Starfires
Bluffton Middle School’s boys’ basketball teams routed the South Adams Starfires Monday. The 7th-grade Tigers won 47-17, while the 8th-graders won 49-28.
Garrett Walburn had 7 points for the 7th-grade Tigers. Desmond Carter added 4, Trae Jojola 11, Grant Prible 6, Kenny Patterson 6, Aaron Sturgeon 4, Dakota Flowers 2 and Jacob Ehle 7.
Ethan Mygrant had 4 points for the 8th-grade Tigers. Kobie Lucabaugh had 10, Ethan Kitt 2, Jacob Wenger 6, James Spera 6, Noah Antrim 6, Dane Hoffman 2, Javon Morgan 8, Kohl Buskirk 4 and Andrew Hunter 1.

Bluffton football banquet scheduled
The Bluffton football program invites players, parents and friends to its 2010 Iron Man football banquet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1, in the high school cafetorium. The main dish, beverages and table service will be provided. Carry-in food assignments are as follows: freshman – appetizers; sophomores – salads; juniors – side dishes; seniors – desserts. Dress casual, but all team members must wear a collared shirt and khaki dress pants.
