Otters post wins at Fort Wayne
Members from the Huntington-Wells Otters swim team recently placed in the SWAC Odd Ages Rule meet at the Helen P. Brown Natatorium in Fort Wayne.
Sarah Mahnensmith was a member of the girls’ 7-and-under 100-yard freestyle relay team that took first place in 1:28.07 and the 100-yard medley relay in 1:48.75.
Duke Wang and Logan Ackley were members of the 10-11 boys’ 200-yard freestyle relay which was first in 1:54.85 and the 200-yard medley relay which was first in 2:05.14.
Kate Mahnensmith and Lia King were members of the 10-11 girls’ 200-yard medley relay which was second in 2:13.64.
Wang also took individual firsts in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:09.70 and 50-yard backstroke in 31.06 seconds. He also had five seconds and two thirds.
Logan Brink was first in the girls’ 14-and-over 100-yard freestyle in 53.03 seconds. She also recorded a second, two thirds and one fourth.

Sarah Fisher coming to the Rumble
FORT WAYNE — IndyCar driver Sarah Fisher will make a special appearance at the 12th Rumble in Fort Wayne indoor racing classic on Sunday, Dec. 27.
The eight-time Indianapolis 500 starter will sign autographs and pose for photos from 2-3 p.m. at the Memorial Coliseum Expo Center.
Additionally, she and her husband, Andy O’Gara, have entered a Sarah Fisher Racing midget for O’Gara’s 14-year-old brother, Kyle, who made his debut in Ford Focus midgets this past summer.
The two-day event, which begins Saturday, Dec. 26, features midgets, winged outlaw modified midgets, MiniCup stock cars, karts, Jr. Sprints and JEGS quarter midgets all racing on a 1/6-mile track, with complete programs each day.

8th-grade Crusaders girls win
The Norwell 8th-grade girls’ basketball defeated New Haven 59-13 on Thursday at Norwell.
Kelsey Beer and Olivia Geiger each scored 13 points to lead the Crusaders. Laken Chaney added 11, Brittany Barger 10, Alecia Coleman six, Kendal Beckstein four and Kylee Byerly two.

Bluffton MS girls split with Crestview
The Bluffton Middle School girls’ basketball teams split a pair of games against Huntington Crestview Thursday night at Bluffton. The 7th-grade Tigers beat Crestview 32-22, but the 8th-grade Tigers lost 41-13.
Erin McKinley powered the 7th-grade Tigers (6-0) with 15 points. Emma Thompson added nine, Catie Neuenschwander four, Morgan Corle two and Emilee Gentis two.
Taeler Meadows scored six points for the 8th-grade Tigers (2-4). Laura Stroud added three, Cassidy McKinney two and Kayelynn Baublet two.

Raiders’ girls split with Hartford City
The Southern Wells Junior High School girls’ basketball teams split their games against Hartford City Thursday night. The 8th-grade Raiders beat Hartford City 47-17, while the 7th-grade Raiders lost 37-29.
Carissa Carter netted 20 points to pace the 8th-grade Raiders. Hilary Paxson added eight, Ashton Prible seven, Olivia Mossburg six, Kim Captain two, Katelyn Kline two and Megan Thompson two.
Lela Knowles scored eight points and Kiara Leas seven to lead the 7th-grade Raiders. Brooke Penrod added four, while Meghan Yencer, Timber Tucker, Jordyn Sills, Savannah Dekyne and Molly Stoffel all had two points.

Raiders’ wrestling meet rescheduled
Southern Wells High School Activities Director Kevin Lavanchy announced Thursday that the Raiders’ wrestling dual meet against Heritage, which was slated for Thursday night, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Heritage, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Bluffton revises parking, fan entrance
Beginning Saturday, Dec. 5, with the Southern Wells vs. Bluffton girls’ basketball game, all spectators at the Bluffton Tiger Den will be required to park in the large parking lot on the northeast side.
All spectators should enter at Door 5 for girls’ basketball, wrestling, freshman boys’ basketball and volleyball. Door 2 on the southwest side of the high school will remain locked during these events. However, ticket entrances at Door 2 and Door 5 will remain available for all boys’ varsity basketball games.

Sign up for boys’ basketball league
Registration is open for boys in grades 5-8 for the Wells County Boys’ Basketball League from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Bluffton City Gym, 128 E. Market St. Cost is $25 for one child, $20 for second child and $15 for the third or more. Season starts Dec. 19.
