Norwell jayvees beat Bellmont
The Norwell junior varsity baseball team defeated Bellmont 6-1 last Thursday at Decatur.
Cale Schumm was the winning pitcher. He allowed an unearned run on six hits over six innings. Jacob Meyer picked up a save.
Evan Brown doubled twice and knocked in one run. Tailur Szarenski hit a home run. Schumm tripled, doubled and drove in one run. Spencer Newell, Luke Hunter and Austin Dettmer each had one RBI. Hunter singled twice.
The Knights improved their record to 13-1 and 2-1 in the Northeast Hoosier Conference.

Knights blank Carroll jayvees
The Norwell junior varsity baseball team blanked the Carroll Chargers 6-0 last Tuesday at Norwell.
Winning pitcher Evan Brown tossed a complete-game one-hitter. He struck out eight. He also had three hits and one run batted in.
Cale Schumm doubled and drove in two runs. Austin Dettmer had two hits and an RBI. Spencer Newell had a hit and an RBI. Tailur Szarenski had two hits and an RBI. Luke Hunter, Nathan Shelton and Jacob Meyer each singled. Hunter scored two runs.

Crusaders win girls’ track meet
The Norwell Middle School girls’ track team scored 145 points Saturday to win the New Haven Invitational for the second year in a row.
Jorey Wall broke the meet record in the 100-meter hurdles in 16 seconds.
The Crusaders also won the 4x400-meter relay and 4x100-meter relay. Renee Friend won the discus and shot put.

Rain halts county sports events
Several high school sports events were rained out Monday.
The girls’ tennis match between Bluffton and Bellmont at Decatur was not finished and will be completed at a later date.
Other events were Bluffton’s varsity baseball game at Churubusco; Southern Wells’ girls’ softball game at Northfield; Norwell’s junior varsity baseball game at Fort Wayne North Side; and Norwell’s junior varsity softball game at New Haven.
