Ouabache State Park Events

Ouabache's interpretive programs are family oriented. Parents and children are encouraged to attend activities together. An adult should accompany children under the age of 10. In the case of inclement weather, all hikes will meet at the Campview Shelter. Schedule subject to change.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1
7 p.m. — A planetary journey. Journey through the solar system without ever leaving the comfort of the park. Meet at Trails End Shelter to blast off on a whirlwind adventure with Naturalist Kate.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
7 p.m. — Awesome opossum. Meet Indiana’s only marsupial during tonight’s program at Campview Shelter. There will be plenty of pictures and stories to hear, but no live animals will be at this program.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
7:30 p.m. — Roving interpreter. Be on the look out for Naturalist Kate in Campgrounds. She’ll have something special with her to share.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
9:30 a.m. — Inspect an insect. Love bugs? Meet at Lakeside Shelter to join Naturalist Kate for an insect hunt. After collecting a few insects, we’ll create buggy journals for you to take home with you.
11 a.m. — Hoosier Quest. Discover! Connect! Explore! Learn more about these great project based programs that you can complete at any of the State Parks and Reservoirs. Get started by meeting at Campview Shelter located in the middle of Campground A!
1:45 p.m. — Quickie craft. Join Naturalist Kate on the pool lawn during the safety break to create a craft for you to take home. Swimmers, make sure you get your hand stamped!
8 p.m. — Goin’ buggy. Bugs are all around us. Investigate a few of the ones you might find in this area tonight at Campview Shelter. Bring your creative side with you as we will be creating our own buggy craft after the program.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
10 a.m. — Worship service. Join a local pastor for a worship service in the beauty of the great outdoors. Service is held at Campview Shelter.
11 a.m. — Hoosier Quest. See Saturday for details.
1:45 p.m. — Sly like a fox. Ever wonder where the saying “he’s sly like a fox” came from? Find out on the pool lawn during the safety break just where it came from as we follow a fox through a year of its life. Swimmers, make sure to get your hand stamped!

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
9:30 a.m. — Bison hike. Meet Ouabache’s resident bison herd during this one mile hike around the Wildlife Enclosure. We’ll meet at the small shelter in front of the enclosure to begin our trek. Tennis shoes, bug spray, and sunscreen are recommended.
1:45 p.m. — End of season scavenger hunt. Join in the last scavenger hunt of the season on the pool lawn during the safety check. Swimmers, make sure you get your hand stamped!
