Wells trio named
academic all-state
Three Wells County basketball players have been named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.
Southern Wells senior Cristin Carter and Bluffton senior Kara Fiechter were named to the girls’ honorable mention team, while Bluffton senior Cameron Gerber was named to the boys’ honorable mention team.

Bluffton High School coaches of winter athletic teams recognized athletes for special awards on Tuesday night.
In girls’ basketball, Kara Fiechter was named the most valuable player. Sheena Steffen received the mental attitude award. Gina Eisenhut was honored as the most improved player.
Chandler Okey was named the most valuable player for the boys’ basketball team. Jordan Leising and Michael Vanderkolk were the mental attitude award recipients. Keith Cochran was named the most improved player.
In boys’ swimming, Sam Walburn was the most valuable swimmer. Connor Pfister received the mental attitude award. Keaton Osborne was the most improved swimmer.
Haley Huffman was the girls’ swim team most valuable swimmer. Audrey Estill received the mental attitude award. Connelly Mettler was the most improved swimmer.
Philip Gerber was the most valuable wrestler for the Tigers. Jon Raugh received the mental attitude award. Kedric King was the most improved wrestler.
The most valuable cheerleader was Kristan Brinneman. Kyanne Bryant received the mental attitude award. Taylor Barker was the most improved cheerleader.
