Bird watchers in Wells County counted 37 different species and 3,356 individual birds during the Christmas Bird Count held Dec. 20, 2010.
Bird counters included: Bill and Kathy Fuller, Phyllis Gentry, Robert and Marilyn Lewandowski, Jerry Moser, Charles and Ruth Oswalt, Jerry and Larry Parker, Rose Robinson and Mick Ulmer.

Canada Goose: 414; Wild Turkey: 1; Great Blue Heron: 1; Sharp-shinned Hawk: 1; Cooper’s Hawk: 1; Red-tailed Hawk: 26; American Kestrel: 10; Rock Pigeon: 62; Mourning Dove: 141; Red-bellied Woodpecker: 16; Yellow-bellied Sapsucker: 1; Downy Woodpecker: 26; Hairy Woodpecker: 1; Northern Flicker: 10; Blue Jay: 27; Crow: 137; Horned Lark: 266; Chickadee: 21; Tufted Titmouse: 18; White-breasted Nuthatch: 18; Carolina Wren: 1; Bluebird: 3; Hermit Thrash: 2; Robin: 6; Strarling: 1,451; Tree Sparrow: 38; Song Sparrow: 8; White-throated Sparrow: 1; White-Crowned Sparrow: 3; Junco: 54; Snow Bunting: 3; Cardinal: 66; House Finch: 23; Redpoll: 1; Goldfinch: 17; House Sparrow: 467; Mallard: 5.
