Bluffton girls
sweep Woodlan
The Bluffton Middle School girls’ basketball teams routed the Woodlan Warriors Thursday night in Allen County Athletic Conference action. The 7th-grade Tigers won 31-14 and the 8th-grade Tigers won 30-9.
Shannon Penrod scored 11 points to lead the 7th-grade Tigers (7-4, 4-0 ACAC). Ashley Smith, Caroline Mettler and Branda Bywater each had 4 points. Whitney Green, Sydney Longenberger, Cheyenne Penrod and Katie Geimer each tacked on 2 points.
Emma Thompson and Erin McKinley each scored 11 points to lead the 8th-grade Tigers. Mackenzie Park, Lauren Stauffer, Lauren Brinneman and Hannah Vandentop each contributed 2 points.
Crusaders outdo
Indian Springs
The Norwell Middle School boys’ basketball teams swept victories over Indian Springs on Thursday night at Norwell. The 7th-grade Crusaders won 37-19 and the 8th-grade Crusaders outlasted Indian Springs 36-34.
Drew Dobbles scored 12 points to top the 7th-grade Crusaders. Carson Lockwood added 5 points. Kaleb Johnson, Bray Wilson, Derek Macon and Hunter Ingle each had 4 points. Jaron Stoppenhagen added 3 and Drew Rinehart 1.
Piercen Harnish paced the 8th-grade Crusaders with 12. Andrew Oakes had 8, Garrett Mohler 7, Adam Nahrwold 6 and Reggie Hayes 3.
Tiger boys post two wins
The Bluffton Middle School boy’s basketball teams rolled over Woodlan Thursday night. The Tigers’ 7th-graders won 35-22 and the 8th-graders won 47-37.
Javon Morgan scored 19 points and Kevin Moser 18 to lead the 8th-grade Tigers. Noah Antrim added 8 points and Josh Moriarity 2.
Grant Prible tallied 11 points for the 7th-grade Tigers. Dwayne Eskridge added 9 points, Aaron Sturgeon 5, Jacob Ehle 4, Collin Barker 4 and Trey Collins 2.
Leo girls top
Southern Wells’ cagers
The Southern Wells Junior High School girls’ basketball teams were defeated by Leo on Thursday night. The 8th-grade Raiders were edged 25-23, while the 7th-graders lost 19-8.
Savannah Deakyne scored 14 points to lead the 8th-grade Raiders. Megan Yencer added 3, while Megan Lefebvre, Lela Knowles and Timber Tucker each added 2 points.
The 7th-grade Raiders were led by Sydney Jones, Lori Plummer and Savannah Ocasio with 2 points each. Tori Wiese and Michaela Smith each finished with 1 point.
