Get a jump start on the holiday season by celebrating Christmas in July at Salamonie Lake, July 19 and 20.
The weekend involves Christmas activities and festive competitions with prize awards.
Bring your Christmas lights and lawn decorations for the Christmas campsite decorating contest on July 19 and a chance to win free camping at Salamonie campgrounds. Participants need to register in person at the Salamonie Interpretive Center before 5 p.m. the day of the contest. Judging starts at 8 p.m.
Other events on July 19 include sand sculpting at the beach at 10:30 a.m., water activities from 2-4 p.m., an “Over the River and Through the Salamonie Woods” sensory night hike at 9:15 p.m., and more.
Campsite decorating contest winners will be announced at 9:45 a.m. on July 20. Winners should be present to receive their prize.
The standard entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicle or $7 per out-of-state vehicle will be in effect.
