SW Jr. High cross country sets start
Southern Wells Jr. High School cross country will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 10, from 6-7 p.m. All runners must have their physical on file in the high school office before the first practice.

Sluggers place third in tournament
The 15-and-under Summit City Sluggers’ baseball team finished third at the CABA World Series July 23-Aug. 1. The Sluggers (28-15-1) posted a record of 11-2 in the tournament, losing only to tournament champion East Cobb (Atlanta, Ga.) and runner-up Northern California.
Sluggers’ pitchers Ryan Keaffaber, Josh VanMeter and Evan Brown were selected for the all-tournament team. Keaffaber was 3-0 with an 1.83 ERA, VanMeter 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and Brown 2-0 with an 1.50 ERA.
